The Boone EDC has hosted an intern this year through the Lebanon High School Work Based Learning Program. Jayda Cleveland has assisted the Boone EDC with various marketing projects throughout the duration of her internship. Below is a blog post Jayda wrote about her experience:

Working with the Boone EDC has been an experience that I will not forget or take for granted. Being here has helped confirm that graphic design is something I want to pursue at Ball State University following my graduation from Lebanon High School.

During my time working at the Boone EDC, I have created maps, infographics and mailers, as well as many other projects. I even created the logo and helped run the Facebook page for Boone County’s Small Business Saturday event.

Out of the many projects that I worked on, the Small Business Saturday project had to be one of my favorites. Of course, it was also the one that required the most time and effort, but I greatly enjoyed the freedom that came with it. I didn’t have a template or any implicated ideas for creating the logo, so I was especially excited when I was given the opportunity to create an original logo that would be seen by a wide range of people.

Working on this project has also given me a behind the scenes look at how these big projects operate and what actually goes into making them happen.

Through my internship experience, I was able to grasp the beginning of my career. This unique experience has helped me understand what life after high school is like and has reassured me about my career goals.

I greatly appreciate the Boone EDC for giving me this opportunity that not many other high schoolers are given the chance to have.
