Lebanon, Ind. – With the help of the Friends of Boone County Trails, the Boone County Economic Development Corporation (Boone EDC) installed a hammock park along the Big 4 Trail in Boone County.
The hammocks are located in Hazelrigg Park, which is maintained by the Friends of Boone County Trails. The park is on the Big 4 Trail between Thorntown and Lebanon, approximately five miles west of the Sam Ralston Road trailhead in Lebanon.
“This hammock park is another placemaking initiative by the Boone EDC to help create a thriving community where current and potential employees want to live,” said Boone EDC Community Development Director Megan Swain. “We hope to see more of these parks pop up along the Big 4 Trail throughout Boone County.”
The hammock park consists of several posts secured in the ground. Passersby are welcome to bring their own hammocks to hook up or use one of the provided hammocks, donated by the Boone EDC.
“We are pleased to partner with the Boone EDC to help create destination points along the Big 4 Trail,” said President of Friends of Boone County Trails Dan Warkentien. “We encourage trail goers to stop and enjoy this new amenity along the trail.”
