We recently had the privilege of hearing the small business success story of Shane Conner and his company, ATEC Electrical Contractors, INC. Here are the biggest takeaways from our conversation:

  • Be the Mercedes Benz of your small business – focus on the quality of work delivered to your customers.
  • It is best to hire slow and methodical. By being particular and selective in your hiring process, one can choose individuals who will deliver quality results and implement the company’s mission.
  • Hard work equals success always, and have faith in yourself and your abilities through the ebbs and flows of your business.
  • Utilize the resources immediately at your disposal. Read and learn as much as you can; utilize mentorship programs; and lean on other small businesses. No one understands the struggles of a small business owner unless you are a small business owner.
  • Don’t be afraid to fail, but never settle for failure.
