Did you know creating a culture of volunteerism in the workplace may boost morale, workplace atmosphere, and brand perception? In fact, America’s Charities Snapshot Employee Research found that 71% of employees surveyed say it’s imperative or very important to work where company culture is supportive of giving and volunteering.
“We find that many companies want to get engaged and give back, but need help connecting with local non-profits,” said Amy Hammerle, Boone EDC Workforce Development Manager. The Boone EDC’s 2nd Annual Day of Service, sponsored by MIBOR, is one example of how local businesses can get engaged and make a positive impact in their community.
On Friday, October 8 over 100 volunteers from 13 local businesses teamed up to assist area non-profit organizations in accomplishing a variety of projects. From painting to cleaning, to building a Free Little Library, to invasive weed control, landscaping and autumn yard clean-up, ten teams of corporate volunteers made a huge impact on the organizations and individuals they served throughout Boone County.
“We are a small company that believes strongly in community and helping out our neighbors,” said Brett Penzkofer, CFO, Aurora Parts & Accessories. “Joining in the Boone EDC’s annual day of service is a great way for us to get involved and make a difference.”
