June 15th, 2015 – Molly Whitehead, Executive Director of the Boone EDC, visited three unique co-working spaces on a recent trip to Madison, WI for the International Economic Development Council’s semi-annual meeting.
Who would have thought so many variations of co-working spaces could exist in the same place! Take an inside look at:
- 100 State – a more traditional co-working space offering entrepreneurial bootcamps and events like game nights to bring start-up businesses together
- Sector 67 – a “makerspace” for entrepreneurs and hobbyists alike. Sector 67 offers classes for people ages 7-65 in welding, woodworking, sewing and 3D printing
- FEED Kitchens – a space promoting and assisting upcoming food-based businesses
Don’t forget, Boone County has its own co-working space: zWorks a traditional, open-office space conducive to collaboration as well as individual “head’s down” spaces.
100 state is a more traditional co-working space with 200 members comprised of entrepreneurs and business people and even artists and a magician. Rent is around $50-$75/month for traditional members.

FEED is a multi-use food incubator used by food trucks and other businesses, such as a pulled pork food truck, a coffee roaster, a sauce maker, and a spice company. Casual users such as Girl Scout troops, non-profits, and individuals cooking for large family gatherings can also rent space. There is an hourly rate to use the kitchen spaces with additional rent charged for refrigerator, freezer, or pantry storage.
